At some point in every fitness journey, the idea of using supplements for weight loss comes into play…
Plenty of people endorse the products (think: fitness models, athletes, “Insta-famous” stars on the Gram... ), yet few actually educate on the topic.
And in all honesty, it’s difficult to know who to turn to or what information to trust on the subject matter, for the dietary supplement/sport performance market is a billion-dollar industry that is largely unregulated by the FDA.
It seems as though everyone is trying to make a fast-buck these days…
As a casual gym-goer myself (i.e. one who likes to lift weights yet has no desire to ever compete on stage amongst the professional bodybuilders), I can remember my first time stepping foot on the insides of a local GNC store- It was definitely something outside of my comfort zone and to say it was overwhelming is quite the understatement!
Shelves upon shelves of products- pills, capsules, shakes, and powders- all promising to deliver guaranteed results in record time. I was at a loss as to what it all meant! More importantly, it made me more heavily question the fact that did I even need dietary supplements? How did they work? Were they safe? and Was there a less expensive option out there??
I left the store that day with a few products in hand and one major headache from trying to sift through what was real, what was not, and what was just plain crazy…
Fast forward a few years and I’m definitely wiser for my mistakes.
Yep, I’m not afraid to admit that I have, at times, been duped by the fancy advertising and marketing ploys of supplement companies. (If it sounds too good to be true, chances are it is!).
I’ve blown money on products that couldn’t live up to their hype; and I’ve dropped too many dollar bills to count on supplements that didn’t deserve my attention.
BUT in the process I’ve also learned some important lessons, and in this blog post, I’m sharing everything you need to know about using supplements in your own weight loss journey.
Keep reading friend, the use of supplements in your own fitness routine will all make sense after this blog post!

Your Questions Answered: Are supplements necessary?
By definition, the word “supplement” is just that- a tool meant to supplement or enhance an already stable fitness regime. Where most beginners fall short is in their belief that supplements will do the work for them.
Don't ever let yourself believe that you can just supplement because you don't want to eat right!Click To Tweet
While supplements can provide nutrients above and beyond what your diet is capable of providing, it’s important to recognize that their purpose is to help fill the voids for when you may not get enough of a particular vitamin, mineral, or protein from whole food sources- Whether that be due to food availability, personal preference, or some other reason.
Your Questions Answered: What are the best supplements for weight loss?
Just because your favorite fitness idol takes 6 different multi-vitamins, chugs 3 or more powdered drinks and relies on a fat-burner to keep him or her lean 365 days a year doesn’t mean that’s the right program for you.
What’s more, there’s no guarantee that if you were to take all the same supplements that your physiques would come close to matching.
The human body is an AMAZING thing! Capable of so much more than we give it credit for. On the same token, the human body is an EXTREMELY complicated machine. Meaning there’s a lot more factors that go into how we look and feel than we typically realize- age, activity level, genetics, gender, sleep habits…they all play a part!
With that being said, most women would benefit from building a strong foundation with their supplement stack. The truth is, where most women fall short with their diets is with their micro-nutrients (think vitamins + minerals).
Though ‘small’, micro-nutrients actually play a big role in how our bodies operate, and consequently feel. And using the right supplements to make up for this deficiency in micro-nutrients can actually have a big impact on how we go about our daily life.
You see, when you feel good, you do good. It’s the kind of cycle that creates momentum within a fitness routine. It’s the kind of cycle that leads to some pretty incredible results. When you take the time to support your body by giving it what it needs, it supports you back tenfold.Click To Tweet
My two go-to products- that are both cost effective + a convenient way to ensure your body is getting exactly what it needs are as follows:
1.Micro-Factor: a complete daily nutrient pack that delivers all the essentials your body needs throughout the day, all in one handy little bundle!
No need to invest in multiple supplements, or have clunky containers line your kitchen counter. These packs are small enough to fit in your pocket, making them especially convenient for busy women on the go.
2. Opti-Greens 50: a premium blend of greens + superfoods, this health + wellness product not only gives your body the benefit of 11+ servings of vegetables, but it also delivers a high-quality probiotic – ensuring that the health of your gut is up to par.
After making Opti-Greens 50 a staple in my morning routine, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my digestion- meaning I’m less bloated after meals, I encounter much less stomach discomfort + I enjoy an overall improved feeling of natural energy.

Your Questions Answered: If supplements aren’t necessary, then why bother with them?
With most anything we hear all the negative things that there are to say about something leading us to often miss out on the good. So it may be news to some of you that supplements can actually enhance your performance- these include but are not limited to increased energy, increased blood and nutritional delivery to vital organs, increased focus and concentration, increased metabolic rate, and/or increased recovery rates.
In many cases, the use of supplements can actually make your workouts more enjoyable as you’ll feel more energized and better equipped to get through a grueling sweat sesh.
Couple that with faster, more improved recovery and the use of supplements can actually increase your overall adherence to your workout schedule.. which all goes back to getting you faster results.. whoa! Talk about a game-changer.
Supplements are not a magic pill, and they are not meant to replace the work of a healthy nutrition + exercise plan.
However, when used correctly, supplements can be an effective means to help you reach your fitness goals!
